Also some beautifully carved contemporary Story Boards from Riwo Village, Madang Papua New Guinea. Made in the kwila (Intsia bijuga), a very heavy and beautiful hardwood.

 

Another very unusual item is featured here in our Current Exhibition - A Maori designed Large Food Serving Bowl complete with lid and intricate Maori Tiki style carving and Paua shell inserts. The bowl is designed to hold an entire small sized pig for feasting and was made by a Sepik carver in local Papua New Guinea timber.
